Mexico, Chinese Taipei and New Zealand play for promotion

Hosts Mexico defeated South Africa at the World U18 Championship Div. III.

MEXICO CITY – An exciting finish is awaiting the fans in Mexico at the 2008 World U18 Championship Division IIIA.

Hosts Mexico have used their home advantage at an altutude of about 2000 metres and won their three games against South Africa, Chinese Taipei and Mongolia. However, also Chinese Taipei and New Zealand could finish the tournament with nine points which makes the race for promotion to Division II open.

The debuting Taiwanese were surprising with wins against South Africa (9-3) and New Zealand (8-6) and lost only to Mexico (1-10). They will play the first Saturday game against Mongolia, whose debut hasn't brought a point yet.

New Zealand lost only to Chinese Taipei and had victories against Mongolia (29-0) and South Africa (10-3). Today's evening clash against the undefeated hosts Mexico will decide the gold medal winning team which earns promotion to Division II.
